Seven Bar Wranglers

Look for Curriculum updates in this column.  The standards being addressed for the units will be highlighted on pages 3 –6 of our webpage. These pages may change as the State of NM is revising standards.

Math:  1st grade is working on two Units 3, Solving Story Problems (addition, subtraction & number system) and Unit 5 Fish Lengths and Animal Jumps (Measurement). 2nd grade is completing a very long Unit 3, Stickers, Number Strings and Story Problems (Add’n, subtr’n and number system). 

Literacy: We are working in leveled guided reading groups, using the Writer’s Workshop format, are continuing with Word Study. 2nd grade Fundations has just begun Unit 6 and then we will move onto Unit 7.  1st will complete Unit 5 and move into Unit 6 which lasts for 3 weeks..

Science:We are beginning First Grade Physics of Movement and will then work on Second Grade unit on Energy.

Social Studies: We are continuing the units in both grades on Community/Neighborhood and Rules and Leaders.

Technology//Music:  We will use the computer lab to provide support for Math, Science and Social Studies.

Multi-Age Learners in C2 & C3

We have finished giving the DBA test for Math and the DRA2 for reading.  Data from these two district tests will be shared at conferences the first week of December.  We will be sending home conference reminder notices the week of November 16th.  Most of our parents signed up at the beginning of the year.  A few parents will still need to sign up.  You will receive a note soon if you haven’t already.  Conferences are scheduled for Thursday December 3 and Friday December 4 for this first trimester.  There will not be school either day.

November 2009 News-Trimester Ends 11-17-09

Thanks to all for the donations for our two fabulous Silent Auction Baskets for the Fall Festival.  Thanks also for the volunteer helpers for our Hair-Spraying booth.  The Fall Festival was fun for all and we appreciate the turnout! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Martinez will complete her 10 total teach days this month, but will continue to be an important part of our classroom through Mid-December.
